Happy St. Valentines Day, to one and all.

Rinah designed (she picked the fonts) and created these little valentines to send to all the people she loves. It's fun to explore these new holidays with her and see how they look through her eyes. So far I think hearts and getting to stick her thumbs in paint has made it pretty tops.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.andrewandcarissa.com/andrewcarissa/2012/2/11/train-passing.html"><rss:title>train passing</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.andrewandcarissa.com/andrewcarissa/2012/2/11/train-passing.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>inspiration jessie baylin leonard cohen music small sur</dc:subject>

Last week (the evening of this morning) we went to feel the earth rotate. The crazy thing is how hard it is to find an unobstructed view of the sun setting. It was a little clostraphobic feeling, really. Do any of you who live in the DC area know of a good place to watch the sun go down? We still enjoyed what we got- the sun going down through the trees at the Iwo Jima Memorial. And then looking back and seeing our city glowing in it's light.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.andrewandcarissa.com/andrewcarissa/2012/2/3/space-mobile.html"><rss:title>space mobile.</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.andrewandcarissa.com/andrewcarissa/2012/2/3/space-mobile.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>DIY craft family homeschool mobile photography photos planets solar system</dc:subject>

We've been talking about the Solar System this week. And we made a mobile of the planets. I'm feeling guilty we didnt include Pluto. At what point do you lay your preferences to rest- when all the world is saying that it's no longer a planet, but everything in your being cant believe that something can be downgraded just because of it's size? (Perhaps coming from this innate fear that I will be downgraded to no longer a human, being somewhat smaller than the average.)

A book shop can be such a treasure trove. This one was. The shelves were spilling forth their gold- onto the floor, down the stairs, in every one of the three stories. And when you finish off with an armload of books you want to read, the only option is to narrow them down by the most undeniable covers.

So that's how these three came home with me. C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy is most beloved. I read my dad's beautiful copies in highschool (a few times), so now it's time for me to find the last two of the series, to complete the set- I thought this edition was worth the hunt. The other two have been on my to-read list for awhile.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.andrewandcarissa.com/andrewcarissa/2012/1/25/our-family-by-beth.html"><rss:title>our family, by beth.</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.andrewandcarissa.com/andrewcarissa/2012/1/25/our-family-by-beth.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>beth altrogge beth murphy carissa gallo lydia hartnett lydiajane photography photography photos portfolio</dc:subject>

Our dear friend Beth took our first ever family photos at the beginning of December... This was the first time since our wedding (those still make me cry- thanks, Lydia!). It's a treat to have talented friends who you love and love you and you feel totally comfortable around and can tell you 'stop making that face, it doesnt look like you.' We can be a pretty awkward family. But, I love these. It feels kinda crazy looking at them, and thinking, wow. This is our family. We are three, and we're almost all the same height. I'm sure I'll share more soon!

I've been updating my portfolio, too- something that has needed to happen for the last two+ years. There are lots of never before seen images... and more to come soon. Also, progressively changing around the blog a little too, thanks to Richard's comment for reminding me it needed to happen.
