Kinfolk Dinner - Brooklyn

We spent last weekend in New York City for the Kinfolk Brooklyn gathering.

Often, for Andrew and I, when we collaborate with others, it's all of us in our own little spaces of the worlds, via the computer. It hit me- while I sliced cheese with Cree and Amanda, as Sarah and Amy hung eucalyptus above our heads, and Nate, Katie, and Julie ran about making everything work together, and Leo photographed, and Andrew filmed, and many other people did their thing- that we were all in one place, collaborating on one evening. And, as the evening wore on, the room filled with such beautiful faces and souls. And we all sat down at one long table to eat together.

I highly recommend you follow along to see if there is a Kinfolk dinner in your area- one a month for the rest of the year!

Beautiful! I'm hoping that Kinfolk come to London; then I might be able to go and that would be pure magic.

I am still grieving over missing this due to prior engagements. Looks lovely and I'm just dying to peek inside the spaces speakeasy ... did you take advantage of it?

How do you get to attend one of these? I would love to attend the SF one, but am only an artist in the sense that I teach wonderful 6 year olds every day...but am a HUGE kinfolk fan

Rachel- You don't have to be payed to be an 'artist' to attend! When the SF one rolls around, all you have to do is enter the lottery and wait to see if there's space, I think...

beautiful video and photographs!

i'd love to know how a person is chosen to attend these dinners, too! i entered my name into the lottery for the brooklyn kinfolk dinner and when i didn't hear back i thought it was just the luck of the draw. but later when i saw all of the write-ups of bloggers that had attended, i realized that maybe just being a reader and fan of the magazine wasn't enough to warrant a spot at dinner. is it open to everyone via lottery? or just to artists and bloggers?

Great photos and the video just made me want to go even more! I cannot wait until May (Philly event) I'm not even sure if I'll go, but it just brings me joy knowing that this exists :)

What a great idea! I wish there was one in so cal! LA (where I currently live) or San Diego (where I'll be living come June) would be perfect locations! ;)

I live in Brooklyn and I'm so sad to have missed this entirely. I've been enjoying your blog for quite a while now, and have loved your Kinfolk work. I work at the Anthropologie in Chelsea Market and we've recently begun selling it--we can't keep it in stock! Congratulations on such beautiful work.

I so loved the cocktail hour following and wish I had been able to be a part of the dinner! Everyone involved with the magazine was so welcoming and so proud of their work. It was an inspiring evening!

Brigid- As far as I know, it's open to everyone via lottery... But I know the Brooklyn one filled up very quickly!

India- I wish we could've met there!
