Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 8:00AM Anna Emilia's Weather Diary has long been one of our favorite places to virtually visit. Her posts always take us on a little journey into her world- full of walks with fresh breezes and cups of tea with chocolate. Hailing from Finland, she makes beautiful art and runs a little shop, too!
From Anna Emilia:

Once I read from somewhere that where is a home, there is also a fire (like in a fireplace). Then it also must be that where is a fire, also a home exists. Smoke from burnt wood makes me always to think about home and feel comfortable. On my walks in the town, or anywhere I find myself going, my nose turns every time it reaches a scent of smoke. So it is also with strawberries. Home is also where strawberry fields are. They always make me to think about home, there is always strawberries at home. Fresh red cheeked ones straight from the bushes or frozen from the freezer. Dried from a paper bag. Jam and juice.
Usually home for me also means a small trip to reach it. It can be a mental or a physical journey, my own home or my parents´ place. A memory from a home in Iceland, a memory of a place that I only shortly visited. It is always lovely to arrive there. Physically by train or a bike, or mentally after smelling or tasting something specific or hearing a familiar sound. Be caressed by a sea wind or the first spring rain.
Home is a feeling built of stories, colors and weather to me. It is people and thoughts and a surprise in a mail box. It is knocking on the door and a woolen blanket. Rubber boots. A window to observe animals of the forest. A sauna to get warm from outside. It is being together and being alone to get warm from inside. It is a place to breath.
Happy home-coming dear Carissa, Andrew and Rinah!
(Pictures taken by my family members some time in the 1960s. 1. My aunt listening to the radio in the strawberry bushes. 2. Cousin of my mother hitch-hiking. 3. A snowman hugging my mother next to a garage that never saw a car but tons of strawberries.)
