Monday, October 31, 2011 at 8:00AM Rose & Crown is a lovely place full of photos and thoughts of day to day life. Nikaela Marie lives in Canada with her husband and every post is like a little subtle glimpse into life, and every photo is just stunning. I love posts like this one or this one.
From Nikaela Marie:

I live in an ordinary city, on an ordinary street.
Lucky for me, I married someone who holds the ordinary very dear; neighbourhood walks, butter on toast, hand-me-down furniture, the sound of the upstairs neighbours vacuuming. I have learnt that the most sacred things are most often, the simply ordinary ones; undocumented habits, modest traditions. The he way he does up his coat, the way she takes her coffee. If we have these things, we have everything.
My city has a lot to aspire to. It is, for half the year, bitter and dark and frozen. It is as far from the ocean as a city can be - in every direction. There is only sky and land and more sky. Oh, and wind. There is wind.
But this is where I live. And what I've found is that it’s as good as any place. It is what we make it. In fact, I've found that if people from my city share a common characteristic it is a persistent ingenuity. After all, if you can find beauty in day after day after day of sub zero temperatures, silent streets and shovelling snow, you can do anything.
Home, for me, is in keeping track of the ordinary things: knowing how he turns the page, when the porch light comes on, and how many months till spring.

Stunning. x hivenn
There's a quote from 'Shall We Dance' which we printed on our wedding programs which pretty much sums marriage up for me, and is very similar to your post Nikaela ....
”We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things, all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed because I will be your witness'."
HOORAY for marriage!
beautiful.

Oh this is so lovely, it took my breath away on a day that was hard for me. To remember the meaning in the essence of our lives is so special- the ordinary is indeed precious to me and to us all. Jxx
