carly to africa.

over 3 years ago, my dad, sister carly, and i had the opportunity to go to uganda to serve an orphanage/school/church there. it was all of our first time to africa and when we left, a piece of each of our hearts definitely stayed. and now, carly, with our friend lindsay (you may have seen here or here), is back. to stay for a year.
its been about 2 weeks. i miss her. but im so happy for her. getting to talk to her and hear from her have become some of the happiest parts of my day. hearing her stories and getting to meet some of her new friends over skype... i love it. she makes that dear little land feel not so far.
i also get to hear updates on 'my children'. carly and i left with kids that, in our heads, are ours. we've been writing letters with them ever since. and now, carly's patrick stops by everyday for a hug before school. and my betty uses carlys paper to write me letters. and i just find it all rather too good to be true.
carly and lindsay are currently organising and starting up a library at the school... should you wish to help them along, its kinda cool, cause you can!
aaand carly's keeping a travel blog as is lindsay with stories and photos should you wish to read a bit. and this is the foundation they went through, should you wish to do something wonderful like help build the library or sponsor a child.

I just realized that the second to last photo is one of my new dearest little friends, Pat (Florence's son)! I didn't connect it before... but he's sitting right next to me as I read your blog and another kid goes, "that's pat!" So awesome...
